“My name is Tara Marchais. I’m the ASM at Evereve Marietta. I have 4 young adult children. I currently live in Roswell but I’m originally from Queens, New York.
My favorite part of Midtown is the variety of restaurants and neighborhoods, Piedmont Park, and the Botanical Gardens.
My personal connection to Colony Square is when I first moved to Atlanta in 1993, I lived in the Ansley Terrace. They were apartments back then (now I think they’re condominiums). The building backed up to Colony Square. One day I discovered a door in the Ansley Terrace basement. It opened into an alley with a gate. That gate had a door, and it connected directly to the Colony Square main building!
What makes Colony Square and Midtown unique is that they both still retain a lot of the charm that drew me to Atlanta several decades ago. It’s a combination of the arts, historic homes, businesses, and green space. Basically, everything that makes Atlanta wonderful, and the reason I fell in love with living in the greater Atlanta area.
One of my favorite memories of living at Colony Square was walking wherever I wanted to go. One weekend we’d walk to visit friends. Another we’d walk to brunch. We’d rollerblade in the park. Or go see an event at the Botanical Gardens. There was always something fun to do or see.
I hardly recognize Colony Square now. It wasn’t the vibrant, mixed-use space it has become. It was residential and maybe a few offices. Nothing else developed under or around it. Amazing.
My personal mantra is if you can dream it, you can realize it. And always be grateful.”
