ATLANTA (August 26, 2021) – Talent-driven food hall group Politan Row announced today the final two concepts joining the upscale food hall lineup at Colony Square in Midtown Atlanta. Marrakech Express, which will serve authentic Moroccan and Mediterranean cuisine, and Zaddy’s, an elevated sandwich, soup and salad concept, will round out Politan Row at Colony Square’s diverse mix of local culinary talent. Marrakech Express is slated to open on Sept. 6, while Zaddy’s will make its debut later in the month.

Operated by Politan Group, Politan Row at Colony Square is the New Orleans-based company’s seventh and largest food hall. It features 11 independent food and beverage concepts, a central bar, an event space and a secret, hidden bar. When curating the food hall, Politan Group honed in on finding a mix of original offerings from local chefs that feature global options and promote culinary exploration. "It's important that the restaurant ownership in our food halls reflects the communities they are in. You'll find about half of the stalls are women-led businesses, and all come from diverse cultural backgrounds with more than half being people of color,” said Kirstin Moburg-Davis, Culinary Director for Politan Group.

“The culinary lineup at Politan Row was so important for us to get right; great things take time, and we didn’t want to rush the discovery process just to ensure all restaurants opened at the same time,” said Will Donaldson, founder and CEO of Politan Group. “These two new concepts will further enhance the one-of-a-kind experience we aim to deliver. Our team and restaurateurs have been completely overwhelmed by the incredible support we’ve seen since opening, and we can’t wait for Marrakech Express and Zaddy’s to join the family. Let's eat.”

Purveyors already open at Politan Row include Belli Pizzeria, Bun Mi Grill, Federal Burger, Gekko, Locale Cafe, Pretty Little Tacos, Tandoori Pizza & Wings Co., Unbelibubble and YŌM. The final two concepts include:

  • Marrakech Express, Moroccan and Mediterranean-inspired cuisines brought to life by Chef Amal Alaoui. Alaoui dips into her family’s culture to bring authentic, high quality dishes together with recipes from the old city of Marrakech, spices imported from Morocco and housemade preserved lemons for vibrant flavors. Upon opening, foodies are invited to feast on signature dishes, such as chicken shawarma and tender flavorful lamb shanks, in addition to various platters, sandwiches and bowls packed with colorful ingredients and delicious Moroccan sauces, from fiery red pepper Harissa to yogurt-garlic Legour. Alaoui also makes her own Baklawa, a flaky dessert of layered filo dough, nuts and the perfect amount of sweetness. Many items are plant-based, gluten free and Halal.
  • Zaddy’s, an elevated deli concept offering colossal sandwiches and founded by chef and owner Aliah Jefferson. Jefferson began her career in retail management and HR before making the transition to food and beverage in 2018, gaining experience during previous stints at Twisted Soul and Roc South, as well as while owning/operating a private catering business. Similar to a few other Politan Row vendors, Jefferson’s concept was born during the pandemic with friends constantly requesting her colossal sandwiches. She began delivering all over Atlanta and continued gaining popularity with the hashtag #bigbreadbigmeat. Thus, Zaddy’s was born, a play off the slang term for a handsome gentleman with style and swagger. With its playful brand and craveable flavors, Zaddy’s will be Midtown’s go-to spot for elevated sandwiches, offering a wide range of selections, including locally PMC Smoked Turkey, Cajun Lemon Pepper Tuna and Grilled Balsamic Veggies. Zaddy’s will also offer soups, salads and coffee.

Last month, the food hall celebrated the opening of its secret bar JoJo’s Beloved Cocktail Lounge, an era-inspired cocktail escape. Nestled in a secluded nook, the nostalgic cocktail lounge pays tribute to the ‘70s and ‘80s with cathedral height ceilings, a dimmed, romantic atmosphere and vinyl-only tunes. Guests can sip on unique and funky cocktails or enjoy an expansive wine selection.

The Midtown food hall is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and features several distinctive elements, including Bar Politan, the Chef’s Table experience and a fully equipped event space known as The Blue Room. While exploring the different cuisines and expansive spaces, guests are also invited to enjoy weekly activations, including live music on Mondays and Saturdays and afternoon drag bingo on Sundays. Guest parking is available in the garage (entrances on Peachtree and 14th Streets) and validated for up to two hours.

“A food hall at Colony Square has been a dream of ours ever since we began the redevelopment of this iconic mixed-use destination,” said Adam Schwegman, partner and senior vice president of leasing at North American Properties (NAP). “Now, it’s become more than just a food hall – it’s a place to hang out, explore different cuisines, try unique cocktails and dive into new experiences. Politan Group has been a great partner in bringing this dream to life and it’s already been extremely well received by the community; we can’t wait to see the excitement around the complete dining lineup.”
